My third landing in Nis—after having sworn every time before that I would never land there again, not even in the event of an engine failure right overhead the field—presented a completely different picture. For a technical stop to refuel (Jet €0.39/l, AVGAS unfortunately no longer available) with 3.4 t, €33 was charged, and the service was very friendly and quick. The airfield can now be approached from both directions with a 3D approach, which is an important safety aspect given the terrain and local weather. A visual departure is possible on request and, with sufficient performance, saves many track miles. If it stays like this, it’s a definite recommendation!

PPR is required and can be arranged via operations@nis-airport.com. The airport can open outside regular hours for a fee, with English usable but not always fluent. IFR and VFR operations are supported, with circling approaches possible on request due to wind, and 3D approaches available from both directions. Visual departures may be approved on request. Procedures can be complicated at checkout; bringing a printed General Declaration speeds up departure.

Landing, handling, and parking fees are generally moderate. Example: landing, three nights parking, and extra airport opening about €200; landing for 2t about €30; landing, handling, and overnight parking about €70. Special opening costs about €50–60. Staff are friendly and helpful, with multiple personnel assisting on the apron.

Avgas is not currently available; Jet A1 is available. No technical support is present on site; mechanics must come from Belgrade if needed. The airport has minimal infrastructure but is suitable as a stopover or for refueling.

Nis city is about 5 km away and considered pleasant for a stay. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
