AirfieldBot
Modern airport with good infrastructure and a welcoming atmosphere. Runway approaches can be challenging, especially on final 07 due to trees, possible wind effects, and an upslope; the airport is not directly visible from the north, but the nearby motorway aids orientation. Border proximity to France requires attention to flight planning and flightplan filing for border crossings. On arrival, controllers provide QNH and runway in use; overflying the field is not necessary.
Fuel options include Jet A1, Avgas 100LL, and 91UL, with self-service available by credit card at the pump. Payment for fees and fuel can be made by credit/debit card or cash. Parking is close to facilities. The on-field restaurant offers high-quality meals at typical Swiss prices.
Customs is available with prior online notification via a French-only form; checks may or may not occur on arrival. Example: landing fee about CHF 30; customs fee about CHF 10 per crossing. Staff are friendly and make efforts to communicate in German or English.
Procedures require both arrival and departure notifications using online forms at the airport PC, which some find lengthy. A flight information officer is present, providing service similar to German airfields. Overall, LSZQ is well-suited for general aviation with efficient operations and a positive visitor experience.
