Idyllically located in the Simmental, the former Réduit airfield of Zweisimmen is today used only for civil operations by powered and glider clubs, as well as by REGA as a helicopter base. Straightforward PPR request via V-Tower on Vereinsflieger; approval came quickly. A briefing is not mandatory but is recommended if you are not yet fully proficient in mountain flying. Approach and departure are quite demanding; the runway at 587 m is not overly long either. Saanen is easier by comparison.

Fees (25 CHF for 1100 MTOW) can be paid in cash, via TWINT, or by bank transfer. You self-report the actual takeoff and landing times online via V-Tower, where you also submitted the PPR request. Friendly, welcoming reception on site from the powered and glider pilots. Daytime parking is free. Customs is unfortunately not available, so the aerodrome can be used only for domestic flights. In the winter months it is also closed to visiting aircraft.

Directly next to the aerodrome are both Zweisimmen railway station and the valley station of the Rinderbergbahn. An ideal starting point for various mountain leisure activities. There are also several restaurants in town.

PPR is required by phone, with information on operational constraints such as funeral closures provided during the call. No landing T; use the windsock for wind information. Operations are prohibited from 12:15 to 13:15 LT and the airfield is closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and the third Sunday in September. Parking is on grass east of the runway, north of taxiway B; be aware of a heliport at the north end of the runway. The area has significant glider and transit traffic, and density altitude can be a factor in summer. Example: landing fee about CHF 25, payable via app or cash at the C-office. Toilet facilities are available opposite the C-office.
