Euro Aviators
Very well-maintained aerodrome in the impressive Valle Riviera. Home to RUAG with PC-6 and PC-7 maintenance. Since 2023, the military aerodrome LSML has received civil certification and the new ICAO identifier LSPR, and is now also open to visiting pilots on a PPR basis.
Our visit took place during the "Riviera Fly-In", with about 50 visiting aircraft and a RUAG tour. Friendly AFIS tower and ground marshallers. Due to the event, no landing fees were charged; instead there were various free souvenirs for all pilots participating in the fly-in - similar to the nearby Ambri Fly-In - as well as a donation box. Absolutely excellently organized, with a great BBQ.
On a regular basis, there is a staff restaurant on the RUAG premises and a snack bar/pizzeria on the southwest side of the aerodrome, "Helibar", reachable via a separate grass taxiway. Another pizzeria and the bus stop "Cresciano, Stazione" are on the eastern side of the river, a 10-minute walk away. Ideal for local excursions and culinary variety.
