Civil Airfield Neuchatel (LSGN)

LSGN operates without a flight information service; all traffic uses blind calls. Runway 05 is typically preferred, but check for current runway in use. Notable obstacles include 25-meter floodlight masts left of the climb-out path on departure from runway 05 and tree lines on approach to runway 23. After departure from runway 23, a left turn is required to avoid rising terrain and for noise abatement. The circuit passes close to the LS-R4 military zone near Payerne, which is active on weekdays. The "Joran Wind" can cause strong crosswinds from the Jura mountains.

Customs requires advance notification via the airport website at least two hours before arrival and one hour before departure, with mandatory telephone confirmation using the same lead times. Customs fees apply per movement.

Landing fees are typically about CHF/EUR 40, with overnight parking about CHF/EUR 20. Example: landing about €40, overnight parking about €20. Taxi to the lake costs around CHF 20. Self-service fuel (Avgas and Jet A1) is available by credit card.

The airfield offers a self-service terminal for flight plans, drinks and Nespresso machines, and an ice freezer in the office. S-Bahn and Litorail train stations are within a 3–5 minute walk, with trains every 20 minutes to Neuchâtel city or directly to the harbor. From the first overnight stay, visitors receive a Neuchâtel card granting free public transport throughout the canton and a complimentary boat trip on the lake. Several restaurants are nearby or at the lakeshore within a 5–10 minute walk; on-field restaurant availability varies.

No operations are permitted between 12:00 and 13:30 LT on Sundays; during this period on weekdays, each aircraft is limited to one movement (either landing or takeoff). Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.

LSGN offers friendly administration and scenic surroundings by Lake Neuchâtel, making it attractive for general aviation visits.
