Lausanne LSGL offers straightforward VFR operations with a self-coordination system: listen to ATIS/Approach, then switch to the airfield frequency, announce your callsign and position, and continue with blind transmissions; do not expect replies except in critical situations. Some pilots use French, others English. The airfield is visually attractive but can be hard to spot from the north until late in the approach. The runway is 830 meters with a notable slope—downhill on 18, uphill on 36—requiring careful speed management. Circuit height for runway 18 is only 650 ft above threshold, and high-voltage lines are present on approach; if not flying straight-in, use sector E at minimum 3700 ft and cross the runway axis at minimum 3100 ft. Avoid entering Geneva TMA.

Parking is self-service; select any available guest spot. High-visibility vests are mandatory on the apron. Fuel (UL91, 100LL, Jet A1) is available via self-service pump accepting credit cards. The terminal building is modern with a restaurant and C-office; the restaurant receives positive remarks for quality and views.

Customs requires submitting a PDF form by email at least 30–60 minutes before arrival or departure for international flights; no confirmation is sent, and you must check in at the customs office if relevant. Ground transport is excellent: a bus stop (Blécherette) is directly outside with frequent connections to Lausanne city center (bus or metro), taking about 15–40 minutes depending on mode; walking to downtown takes around 40 minutes downhill. Many hotels provide free public transport cards.
