Bex Airport (LSGB)

LSGB is a grass airfield in the Rhône valley between Martigny and Montreux, surrounded by mountains. PPR is required via an online form on the website, with quick responses; customs is also available via form with short advance notice and no extra fees. The 700 m grass runway is not obstacle-free and has a noticeable upslope in the middle section (especially on 33); pilots should assess suitability for their aircraft. There is significant mixed traffic including powered aircraft, gliders (with winch and tow), helicopters, and parachuting; caution is advised, particularly during strong Föhn winds due to turbulence. No AFIS is provided—only air-to-air communication, typically in French; English may be used but is not always appreciated.

The runway and taxiways are generally in good condition. The main guest parking area is on grass near threshold 15, with an asphalt taxiway leading to the fuel station; south of the fuel station, taxiing must continue on marked grass rather than asphalt. Touch-and-go operations require an instructor. No mandatory midday closure.

Fuel available includes 100LL, UL91, Mogas, and Jet A1; check availability before planning refueling. Fees are paid either by envelope in a British phone booth or via AeroPS. Example: landing fee about 15 CHF; overnight outdoor parking about 5 CHF; no additional customs charge. The on-field restaurant offers a terrace with mountain views and reasonably priced meals for Switzerland.

Bicycles are available for pilots at no charge. Noise-sensitive areas must be respected; see AIP/NOTAM for procedures.
