Sibiu Airport (LRSB)

LRSB is an H24 airport with customs and immigration available. No PPR is technically required, but advance email contact with Romanian Handling is advisable as the airport is relatively unused to light aircraft; handling is mandatory and ground staff are generally helpful. Expect to fly standard arrivals and departures. VFR start-up clearance is required before engine start.

Landing, parking, and handling fees are high for the region, with examples ranging widely. Example: landing, parking, and handling for a 6-day visit about €120. Other examples include total charges for short stays between €70 and €150, sometimes higher; fee breakdowns often include separate navigation, landing, parking, handling, bus transfer, and taxes. Discrepancies between quoted and charged fees have occurred.

Avgas is not available despite existing infrastructure; only Jet A1 is reliably on offer. Payment for navigation fees typically occurs at the Menzies desk in the terminal landside; other fees are settled airside after security.

The terminal is modern with free WiFi. Taxis to the city are inexpensive if using the meter or negotiating a local rate; handlers can assist in arranging taxis when scheduled flights are absent. Several international car hire firms have desks at the airport; local providers may offer better rates by meeting at the terminal.

Restaurant Max in town receives repeated positive mentions for quality food. The historic city center offers a range of accommodation options from budget apartments to mid-range hotels within easy reach of the airport.
