IFR arrivals and departures are straightforward, with 03/21 as the preferred runway. Visual joins to the circuit are possible on request, and GA typically parks at Apron D with follow-me car guidance. Handling is mandatory, with Groundforceone providing efficient service and escort through arrivals and departures; their contact is http://www.groundforceone.com/. The airport requires copies of registration, insurance, and weight & balance documents. Slots do not generally present issues, but parking is limited to a maximum of 2 days.
Avgas is available via Air BP (advance booking recommended), payable by Air BP card or Visa/Mastercard; the pump operates slowly at about 25 liters per minute. Taxi to the city center takes about 5 euros.
Fees are high for GA. Example: total airport costs about €300 for landing and two days’ parking; handling about €140. Reports of total charges exceeding €500 also exist. Maximum parking time is restricted (reported as 2–3 hours or up to 2 days). Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
The airport experiences busy traffic and complex taxi instructions, often delivered in segments due to intricate taxiways. No overnight stays for small aircraft are permitted in some cases. LPPT is not generally GA-friendly compared to alternatives like Cascais (LPCS).
