Nötsch Im Gailtal Airport (LOKN)

Nötsch im Gailtal (LOKN) is situated in a scenic alpine region, with a grass runway described as generally good and over 800 meters usable. Approaches from the east are obstacle-free, while the western approach requires a slight curve for noise abatement and awareness of trees and a power line on short final to 09. The airfield is operated by a local aeroclub with significant glider activity; coordination with flight operations by phone before arrival is strongly advised. Circuit direction and active runway may change rapidly, especially during busy gliding periods, requiring vigilance for conflicting traffic. Strong southeast winds and rotor turbulence are common.

There is no on-field restaurant, but meals can sometimes be arranged with the aeroclub, and several guesthouses and restaurants are located in the nearby village, about 20 minutes on foot.
