Feldkirchen/Ossiacher See Airport (LOKF)

Feldkirchen (LOKF) offers a scenic setting with a well-maintained grass runway reinforced with plates, typically using runway 02 for landing and 20 for departure, even with light tailwinds. The approach to 20 is considered demanding, while the approach from Ossiacher See is picturesque but the runway becomes visible late. Circuit entry is straightforward, but be aware of possible opposite-direction traffic and significant glider activity, including winch launches and towing on the same runway. Hängegleiter are present in the Gerlitzen area.

The airfield team is friendly and helpful, assisting with hotel searches and minor technical issues. PPR may require follow-up. Fuel is available but payment is cash only. Bicycles are available for rent at about €5 per day, and are sufficient for reaching Feldkirchen in about 15 minutes or Ossiacher See/Ossiach in 30–60 minutes without major climbs. The on-field restaurant offers a small selection but is well regarded.

Customs for outbound flights requires precise timing; the officer may arrive exactly at the declared departure time, potentially causing delays of around 20 minutes, so it is advisable to file a departure time 15 minutes earlier than planned.
