Civil Airfield Mariazell (LOGM)

LOGM requires PPR, which is easily arranged via the website. The airfield sits in mountainous terrain with a relatively short, sloped runway; both ends slope down, and the circuit is flown in a valley with nearby high terrain. Approach and departure demand careful planning, especially for density altitude and takeoff performance. The runway surface is grass, with parking on grass free of charge, though soft ground can make moving aircraft difficult.

Landing fees are low. Example: landing about €20. Bicycles are usually available at the airfield for a voluntary donation or at no cost, but their condition and availability vary. Mariazell town and local attractions such as the Erlaufsee lake and Bürgeralpe lift are accessible by bike (3–5 km) or on foot (Erlaufsee about 20 minutes). A guesthouse with a terrace is 5 minutes away on foot. Some hotels, such as Montestyria, offer complimentary transfers from the airfield.

The radio is handled in English or German and is described as friendly and clear. The airfield may be closed in winter (no snow clearance) or sometimes during the week in warmer months; always check PPR status before planning a visit. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.

LOGM offers a scenic but operationally demanding destination suitable for experienced pilots prepared for alpine conditions and short-field operations.
