Pilot Comments for LKLN
Seb
Perfect airfield with good ATC north and south circuit. Long runway, frequent traffic with good parallel operations. Bolt for 12€ in the city
AirfieldBot
LKLN is a large former military airfield with a long paved runway, open to public use. VFR and IFR operations are supported, with ATC providing clear instructions in English; however, outside the tower, English or German may not be widely spoken. Only left-hand circuits are permitted. For arrivals from abroad, notify the tower one day in advance at twr@pspil.cz. Customs clearance is available for international flights.
Landing fees and parking are moderate, with several examples: landing about €15–20, overnight outdoor parking about €15–20, and hangar parking about €30. Example: landing and one night parking about €25. Payment is typically in cash; invoices can be sent by email. Tie-down equipment must be brought by pilots.
Fuel (Avgas) is available via fuel truck, which can be requested on arrival or by radio; bar payment is preferred. Facilities include toilets and WiFi in the C-office; a flight school operates on site. There are no restaurants or shops at the airfield itself.
Taxis to Pilsen city center cost about €20–25 and can be called by the tower or airport staff; using airport-arranged taxis is advised due to reports of overcharging by city taxis. The city offers many attractions and dining options. Walking access from the airport is limited, but staff may open a rear gate to shorten the route to Nová Ves if requested.
The airfield environment is unique, with some parking areas located in former military bunkers accessible via narrow taxiways through wooded terrain. Parachuting activity occurs on site and should be noted during operations. Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM for operational details.
