Civil Airfield Hosin (LKHS)

LKHS is a busy airfield near Budweis with significant glider, parachute, and powered aircraft activity, especially in good weather. The airfield is often unattended or operated by a single staff member with a handheld radio; radio service in English is possible but can be slow or difficult, and the tower is usually unmanned. Staff presence is mainly on weekends; at other times, PPR is required and best arranged via email. Both runways may have gliders at the thresholds, so long landings are advisable. The field sits higher than the surrounding area and has a noticeable slope.

Landing fees are low to moderate. Example: landing fee about €10. Fuel (Mogas) is available and can be paid by card; Avgas and normal petrol are also offered at competitive prices. Parking, tie-downs, and hangar space are available; overnight stays in simple on-field rooms are possible, though hotel accommodation in Budweis or nearby Hluboká is generally preferred for comfort.

A small restaurant operates on the field from 11:00 and can be crowded with locals; menus may be only in Czech. PC for flight planning is available. Taxis to Budweis cost about €15–€20 and must be called by phone; group taxis are available for around €20–€30. Walking to Hluboká takes about 15 minutes, where hotel and castle stays are possible.
