Linate is a professionally run airport with mandatory handling for general aviation. Several handling agents operate, including Sky Services, Universal Aviation, Prime Aviation, and Argos; service quality is generally efficient and friendly, though fees are consistently high. Handling and landing costs for a typical GA aircraft under 2 tonnes range widely: Example: total charges for landing, handling, and parking about €300 for a three-night stay. Some handlers may present unclear invoices or add unexpected extras; requesting a detailed estimate in advance is advisable.
IFR and VFR arrivals are straightforward, with professional ATC and clear procedures. The GA apron is shared with many private jets. Taxiing procedures require use of a follow-me car at all times on the GA apron. The airport is very convenient for Milan city access, with taxi rides to the center typically taking 20–30 minutes and costing around €20, though traffic congestion can increase travel time.
Avgas availability is inconsistent; as of May 2021, Avgas is not available. Jet fuel remains available. Facilities include a well-equipped GA terminal on the west side with lounge and bar/bistro. Customs clearance is fast and handled efficiently by agents.
Departure procedures can involve delays, particularly for fuel truck arrival or handler release; waiting times of over an hour have occurred. Some SIDs have high climb gradients that may challenge certain aircraft on departure; reviewing departure procedures in advance is recommended.
Linate offers excellent proximity to Milan but at a high cost and with some procedural complexity. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
