Reggio Emilia (LIDE) offers a friendly atmosphere with helpful staff and generally efficient radio communication. The airfield operates from 9:00 until sunset, with frequent parachuting activity; pilots should call AFIS well before entering the ATZ to coordinate and expect occasional short delays due to skydiving. The runway and taxiways are in good condition, and parking is on a hard-surface apron, though aircraft may be parked close together at times. Operations can be affected by short-notice closures, especially in August or around Christmas; always check NOTAMs.
Landing and parking fees are moderate. Example: landing plus 48 hours parking about €30. Another example: landing with short-term parking about €25. Avgas is available, payable by card, but prices are relatively high. The on-field restaurant is often closed during weekdays.
The airport is located close to the city of Reggio Emilia. Taxis to the city center cost about €20, and TIER scooters are available at the airfield for a ride of around 10 minutes into town. There is a simple hotel directly opposite the airport.
Overall, LIDE is an attractive stop for general aviation with straightforward procedures, but plan for possible short-notice closures and parachute operations.
