Valdera Airport (LIAT)

IFR arrivals are possible with coordination from Pisa Approach, and direct entry from Switzerland is permitted without an intermediate customs stop. Prior contact for landing is required via giorgetti.daniele@gmail.com. The airfield has a 690–700 meter well-maintained grass runway and is operated by Aero Club Pisa. No landing or parking fees apply; Example: landing and 7 days parking about €0. There is no Avgas available, but Mogas is offered at reasonable prices. No ground radio service exists; pilots determine landing direction via windsock and make blind calls on the airfield frequency. The airfield does not have a restaurant, but a clubhouse is available, and picnicking under trees is possible.

Car hire can be arranged through www.boborent.ch (+39 389 842 9344), with delivery and collection at the airfield upon request. The staff can organize hotel accommodation and transport to nearby hotels; some staff speak English and German. A certified Rotax maintenance facility and a Pipistrel representative are present on site. The surrounding area offers limited hotel options, with one recommended hotel at www.borgodicolleoliresort.com (+390587622144). The location is suitable for exploring Tuscany.

The airfield lies near controlled airspace: Firenze CTR starts at 2500 ft MSL nearby, while Pisa CTR begins two miles west at ground level. Approach to runway 30 is nearly obstacle-free if approached slightly from the left due to a tree; a low power line exists beyond the opposite runway end. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
