Civil Airfield Szeged (LHUD)

LHUD offers both hard and grass runways in good condition, with English-speaking FISO and active flying club operations including fuel, hangarage, flight training, and engineering. The airfield is suitable for VFR arrivals, and Budapest Approach coordinates airspace crossing from the north. No IFR approaches are mentioned. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, with helpful staff.

Landing and overnight parking fees are low; Example: landing plus overnight parking about €20. During events, landing and parking may be free. Fuel is available on site, with prices listed online. A small café operates on the field; otherwise, Szeged city offers a range of restaurants and is easily reached by BOLT taxi or public bus. The city center is not far from the airport.

Border police coordination for flights to or from Romania is no longer required due to Schengen entry. In previous years, customs clearance required advance notice (PPR) and incurred significant fees and delays; these procedures are now obsolete for Schengen traffic.

The airfield can be busy with VFR traffic, gliding, parachuting, and model flying activities. Facilities include toilets (sometimes relocated during renovations), basic amenities, and 24-hour access to sanitary facilities near the tower. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
