Pilot Comments for LGMK
Thomas
Basically unusable for GA during the summer season. Apart from the fact that there are no parking spaces available (there's a maximum ground time below 2h), at least you could go there in the winter time (I know a pilot who did pattern work there in November because there was literally no traffic and the tower was bored :-)) – but recently they introduced a GA passenger fee of around 2000€ per passenger. So even a drop-off doesn't make sense unless you are thinking in gulfstream categories.

LGMK operates under significant congestion, especially from spring through autumn, with very limited or no permanent GA parking. Short stays are possible for light GA, but parking beyond 1–2 hours is generally not available during busy periods. Slots are scarce except before 05:00 and after 17:00 UTC, and both PPR and arrival/departure slots are required in summer. Handling is mandatory, with several providers (Olympic, Swissport, Goldair) on site; service is generally efficient and friendly. Parking requests for longer durations are frequently denied or impossible to arrange due to high VIP and commercial traffic.
Fees for landing, handling, and parking are high. Example: total charges about €300. Another example: landing about €110, handling about €110 (with AOPA discount), total about €220. Discounts for AOPA members may be available but are not always honored. Payment is often cash only.
Avgas availability is inconsistent; some reports note no Avgas despite published information. Refueling service can be slow. Jet fuel is available.
Facilities include a renovated terminal and efficient ground handling. Taxis to town cost about €20. Car hire is available on site.
Strict adherence to PPR procedures is essential; written confirmation is advised. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
For non-commercial GA pilots, LGMK presents major operational challenges due to parking limits, high fees, and unpredictable slot availability.
