Civil Airfield Pontarlier (LFSP)

LFSP is a straightforward airfield near the Swiss border with a long asphalt runway. The runway surface is generally in good condition, though some grass and weeds grow through the asphalt away from the centreline; the main landing area remains clear and usable. There is no ATS; operations are air-to-air only, with self-announcement required in French. The airfield is typically unattended, and there are no landing or parking fees. Pilots must enter their arrival and departure in a logbook at the clubhouse or tower building.

AVGAS is available via self-service pump using a Total Card. Coffee and drinks may be available if someone from the aeroclub is present, but there are no permanent staff or on-field restaurant facilities. A grill restaurant is about 15 minutes on foot, with other dining options and hotels in town. The town centre can be reached on foot in 15–30 minutes, depending on destination; walking routes pass through commercial areas.

Taxis and ride-hailing services are unreliable or unavailable, especially on Sundays. Customs for flights to or from Switzerland requires prior notice (PPR/PN 12 hours) via email to codt-metz@douane.finances.gouv.fr; confirmation typically arrives quickly. The field sits at an elevation of nearly 2700 feet, so density altitude should be considered during hot weather. In winter, snow is not cleared from the runway, so operations may be limited to March–November.

LFSP offers basic infrastructure suitable for non-commercial general aviation flights, with easy access to town and straightforward procedures.
