IFR operations are supported with RNP approaches and omnidirectional departures, coordinated by AFIS with Basel. The airfield has a long runway and short walking distances. Circling for RNP 26 is conducted south of the field due to a hill northwest; this is not noted in official instrument procedures. English is spoken well by ATC during ATS hours, but outside these times, only French is used on the radio, and a French RTF certificate with Level 4 proficiency is required during the midday break. On weekends and outside ATS hours, PPR applies, and the airfield can be very quiet.
Self-service fuel is available at a modern station accepting VISA and Carte Bleu; fuel purchase is possible with any credit card. Asphalt parking is sufficient. Example: landing fee about €20. When the tower is closed, no landing fee applies, but services such as the restaurant are unavailable.
The shortest walk to the old town takes about 25 minutes. The circuit can be busy with paradropping activity; proficiency in French is important for safe operations. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
