Pilot Comments for LFSG
Tina
This information is only valid when there is no AFIS (weekdays after 1700LT and weekends) A/a communication in French is required. When we arrived Friday evening, there was nobody and also on Saturday we were alone. There is nothing around, it might be possible to rent a car, we did not try. But if you are into French food, we recommend to go there ( https://www.burnel.fr/hotel-restaurant-hotel-vosges-lorraine ) and have dinner at the restaurant mentioned. Call beforehand (+33 3 29 65 64 10) to do the reservation and they will pick you up at the airport.

IFR and VFR operations are supported, with ILS, NDB, and GNSS approaches available. AFIS provides English service with helpful information; outside AFIS hours, only French is available via auto-information, including at night. VFR flight plans must be filed at least 30 minutes before taxi, IFR 60 minutes. The airport is a designated port of entry with customs available.
Landing fees are generally low. Example: landing about €20. An additional international arrival fee of about €50 may apply. Hangar parking is available from about €10 per night.
Avgas is available from airport staff. Facilities include generous pilot infrastructure, free WiFi, a vending machine in the terminal, and a coffee machine. No on-field restaurant; the nearest options require a walk or taxi—one restaurant is about 20 minutes on foot at the Go-Kart track, and another local restaurant offers pickup if booked in advance (+33 3 29 65 64 10). Hotels are available in the area.
The airport is remote with limited ground transport; car hire may be possible but is not confirmed. The surrounding region offers opportunities to explore but requires arranging transport from the airport.
English radio service depends on AFIS hours; outside these times, French is required for communication. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
