Lannion Airport (LFRO)

Straightforward regional airport with friendly, helpful staff and good English proficiency. VFR and IFR operations are supported, including NDB and ILS approaches. ATC is easy to work with, and circuit entry is uncomplicated; parachuting activity occurs near the pumps, so occasional short waits may be needed. Parking is flexible, with freedom to choose spots on the apron.

Landing fees are low for France. Example: landing and a few hours parking about €10; overnight parking about €10 extra. Payment is handled by the fire crew (Pompier), who also manage Avgas refueling. Avgas is available but noted as expensive; payment by Visa card accepted.

Car rental is available at the airport, though agencies may not be permanently on site; advance reservation ensures timely delivery and pickup at the airfield. E-bikes can be rented on site for about €10 per day, providing quick access to Lannion town or the Côte de Granit Rose coastline. Lannion town is nearby; Perros-Guirec is about 15 minutes by car or taxi, and Île de Bréhat can be reached in about an hour including a ferry.

Customs clearance is not always available at LFRO; for Channel Islands arrivals, a stop at St Brieuc (LFRT) may be necessary. Customs can sometimes be arranged by emailing the Saint Brieuc team (bsi-saint brieuc), but responses are inconsistent—see AIP/NOTAM for current procedures.

Terminal access requires noting a code to re-enter from the apron; instructions are posted on site. The airport manager assists with hotel bookings and car hire if needed. Facilities include modern BP fuel pumps and clear signage throughout the terminal. The atmosphere is relaxed, with low traffic since scheduled airline service ceased.
