Chartres Metropole Airport (LFOR)

LFOR Chartres Métropole is a VFR-only airfield with no ATC, operating under French-only radio procedures; the club president enforces French on the radio, but English is spoken in person. The paved runway is 840 meters and in excellent condition, with well-kept grass parking and limited apron spaces near the fuel pump. Glider activity is frequent and can be intense; only use the hard runway and announce intentions in French. Runway 09 is preferred when winds permit.

There are no landing or parking fees. Example: landing and parking about €0. Fuel (Avgas) is available via Total card; payment by other means requires seeing the club clerk, and availability may be restricted to home-based aircraft—check NOTAMs. No Jet fuel is available. The aeroclub building offers open access, toilets, seating, vending machines, and WiFi (code may be posted). Facilities are modern, with new hangars and a large clubhouse.

Taxi details are posted in the clubhouse; Taxis 2000 (02 37 36 00 00) responds quickly, with a ride to the city center taking about five minutes. Walking to town is not practical. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.

LFOR offers an attractive stop for general aviation pilots seeking easy access to Chartres and its historic cathedral, but requires attention to glider traffic and French-language procedures.
