Civil Airfield Gap Tallard (LFNA)

LFNA (Gap Tallard) is a busy airfield with significant parachuting activity, gliders, helicopters, and general aviation traffic. The tower operates professionally, with English widely spoken; there is a 1.5-hour midday pause when only blind transmissions are used. Strict adherence to published arrival and circuit procedures is required due to intensive skydiving operations, especially avoiding the parachute drop zone and following recommended entry points for arrivals from the north. Parallel use of three runways occurs, with runway 20 preferred even with some tailwind; parachute aircraft often use grass runway 02.

Fuel options include UL91, Avgas, Mogas, and Jet A-1. Fuel payment is possible by card or cash during published hours. Example: landing fee about €10; overnight parking about €10. For overnight stays, aircraft are typically parked on grass in the northern area, which features a steel tie-down cable; short-term visitors may use hard stands near the restaurant.

On-field accommodation includes Hôtel Le Cap (modern rooms, studios with kitchenettes, pool) and block cabins (weekly rental), as well as Hotel Mas d'Estello near runway 21’s departure end. A supermarket is located 500 meters from the airfield. The restaurant Le Looping operates on site but may not always be open in the evenings; there is also a pilot shop.

Ground transport options are limited: taxis can be difficult to obtain and Uber is unavailable; public buses run from the supermarket or Tallard village at low frequency; walking to Tallard takes about 15 minutes. Rental cars are available from AVIS (uncertain if delivered to airfield) and AB Location (sports cars delivered to airfield).

Multiple maintenance providers are present on site and offer prompt assistance when needed. The airfield is considered suitable for extended stays due to its facilities and surrounding activities. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
