Airport Bourges (LFLD) IFR

LFLD offers both IFR and VFR operations with a long runway and AFIS service; English is spoken on frequency 119.600. IFR departures may receive CTOTs causing delays, but VFR departures with an IFR pickup from Poitiers Radar are possible, provided initial climb does not exceed 2100 ft due to airspace structure. Only runway 06 has an instrument approach; circling south of the field is prohibited, and visual circuits for both runways are to the north to avoid the glider strip, model flying area, and restricted area R9A. Base leg entry is standard for both runways.

AFIS staff are described as friendly, though French is preferred over English in person. The terminal may be locked outside staffed hours; access to the apron is possible via a gate next to the tower using code 1196. Fuel (AVGAS and JET A1) is available 24 hours by credit card at self-service pumps, but VISA payment at the pump may not always be possible; fueling hours can be restricted after night operations. Parking is available on asphalt or grass without tie-down rings; parking fees are moderate at about €2 per hour or €20 per night.

AFIS fees can be relatively high, especially when using IFR procedures; Example: AFIS/IFR about €150. Other fees are moderate. No on-field restaurant exists, but a snack restaurant and bakery are within a 10-minute walk. Several hotels are nearby, including Kyriad and Logis Villa C Hotel; booking online may offer better rates.

The city center is accessible by bus within 100 meters of the airport exit or by taxi for €10–15. The town offers good hotels and restaurants and notable sights such as the Saint-Étienne Cathedral and Palais Jacques-Cœur.

Customs clearance requires advance notification by email or fax one day prior when needed; see AIP/NOTAM for details. Landings during AFIS lunch breaks are permitted, but no departures occur during this time.
