Pilot Comments for LFKF
Timo
Overall a good aerodrome. Efficient handling. Rental cars 200 m from the terminal. The only challenge is PPR. The request apparently isn’t answered until about 3 weeks before the planned flight. No one tells you that—you just don’t get a reply to the email. Calling isn’t possible; there’s no phone number. If you want to book a hotel and rental car, that short notice is very inconvenient. I’ve also not received PPR before (no space on the apron). Therefore only 3 stars.

PPR is mandatory for general aviation parking at Figari, with requests required at least three days in advance via pce.ag@sudcorse.cci.fr; written confirmation is necessary before planning to stay. During summer and busy periods, parking is limited and PPR applies to both parking and, in some cases, fuel with assistance. For international arrivals, passport control is required and only possible when police are present.
ILS approaches are available (notably ILS 23 with DME arc), and both IFR and VFR operations are supported. Fuel (Avgas and Jet A1) is available; Avgas can be self-serve with a Total card or by requesting assistance via radio. Delays can occur during peak airline and business jet traffic, especially for fuel or taxiing due to single-runway backtracking.
Landing fees for general aviation are generally low; Example: landing fee about €20. Parking fees may apply depending on duration and season; Example: six nights parking about €100. For aircraft under 2 tonnes, landing and parking fees have sometimes been waived, but this is not guaranteed.
Rental cars are readily available at the airport, often preferable to taxis due to cost and availability. Bonifacio is approximately 15 minutes by car, Porto Vecchio about 25 minutes. Taxis to Bonifacio cost around €50 per trip. Facilities include a GA terminal (sometimes unstaffed), but services such as tie-downs may be limited—bring your own ropes or anchors if windy. The grass apron may be sandy with sharp stones.
Expect frequent strong winds and turbulence on approach, especially on runway 14 or 23; secure aircraft well when parked. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for current requirements.
Figari offers practical access to southern Corsica with friendly ATC and efficient operations when procedures are followed.
