Civil Airfield Mulhouse Habsheim (LFGB)

LFGB is a VFR-only airfield with no IFR approaches, no customs, no lights, and no manned tower or AFIS; all communication is air-to-air on 125.250, primarily in French, though English and German are sometimes understood. Approaches and departures follow set routes under the Basel TMA; coordination with Bale Info is required, and procedures may involve specific arrival and departure points as detailed in the AIP/NOTAM. If cloudbase or visibility is insufficient for VMC on departure, Basel Tower must be contacted by phone in advance to arrange a CTOT and squawk.

Landing fees are low and typically paid at the Aeroclub du Haut-Rhin during operational hours; outside these times, fees may not be collected. Example: landing fee about €10. Parking is available on grass, which can be uneven but generally acceptable. Fuel (Avgas) is available during business hours from Mulhouse Air Service (Monday to Friday) or in smaller quantities from the Aeroclub, including weekends for cash payment; there is no self-service option.

On-site facilities include a recently renovated airport building with a café/bar ("le Top Gun") open Fridays 16:30–19:30 and weekends 13:00–19:30. A bakery with food service and a McDonald's are about 10–15 minutes on foot from the airfield. The train station (Gare Habsheim) is 1.8 km or 20–25 minutes' walk away; trains to Basel run every 15 minutes during peak times and every two hours otherwise, with tickets available from a French-only machine.

Taxis to Basel are expensive (around €50–€100 depending on direction); Uber may offer lower fares. There are no customs or immigration facilities at LFGB. For closing flight plans, use the number posted at the office or contact Basel Info on 130.9 MHz; some difficulties with phone closure have been noted.

The airfield is suitable for non-commercial general aviation visits to Mulhouse or Basel without formal entry procedures. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for details.
