LEVI (Vigo) is a regional airport with a small terminal, three jet bridges, and a dedicated GA area. PPR is required when arriving from an uncertain field, and ground handling may be compulsory or at least strongly encouraged, with several handlers available. Handling fees can be significant; Example: total charges about €130–€200 for a short visit, including handling, landing, security, and navigation fees. Lower landing and parking fees are possible in some cases; Example: landing and parking about €20–€40.
Fuel is available but considered expensive, with payment typically by Air BP card or cash; Avgas may require a commercial VAT number. Refueling can be slow but staff are generally helpful. No dedicated GAT exists; apron space should be arranged in advance by phone.
Approaches are straightforward with ILS, VOR, and NDB available; terrain requires attention on departure SIDs due to climb gradient requirements. Backtrack on the runway may be necessary. The airport sits on a plateau with sheer drops at both ends and is subject to turbulence from Atlantic winds and occasional morning fog or low visibility due to sea mist.
Access to the city (about 8 km away) is possible by hourly bus (L9A) or taxi (around €40). Car hire is available at the airport. On-field facilities include a small terminal; restaurants and hotels are located in the city, with specific recommendations provided for both.
Procedures for payment and access can be bureaucratic and time-consuming, involving multiple steps for security passes and flight plan filing. The apron can be crossed on foot after security checks. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
