Reus (LERS) is suitable for general aviation, with both VFR and IFR operations available. PPR is required for all GA flights and must be requested by email (reucecoa@aena.es). Slot reservation is necessary at least 24 hours in advance, as specified in the AIP. Handling is mandatory for non-Schengen arrivals and departures, with handling agents such as IBERIA recommended for efficient service. Procedures may not always align with ICAO phraseology, and a flight plan is required for all movements, including local flights within the control zone.
Fees are state-regulated and must be paid at the AENA office, located between the terminal and the security entrance. Landing fees are typically in the €20–30 range, with parking around €5 per day or €50–70 per week. Example: landing, approach, and 2 hours of parking about €30; basic handling about €20; one-week parking about €70. Handling fees can vary significantly; one example cites about €250 for handling. For non-Schengen flights, expect additional mandatory handling charges. Payment can be made online or at the airport office.
GA parking is separated from the main terminal and may require a van transfer of up to 1.2 km; transport is provided by the airport or handling agent. The Aeroclub offers its own secure parking area with a dedicated security gate and operates a restaurant/bar serving meals and drinks. Refueling is available (BP card accepted), but delays of up to an hour have occurred; fuel trucks are requested via tower or handling agent.
Facilities include a café in the terminal (open on weekends), on-field car hire, and access to public buses to Reus city (bus fare about €5). Walking distances from GA parking to OPS can be 600 m or more through security-controlled areas. Tie-downs may not always be available on all ramps.
Strict security procedures apply: access to aircraft requires a valid flight plan, and re-entry to some areas may need biometric identification. The airport can be quiet outside scheduled airline movements but gets busier during summer as a feeder for Barcelona.
Customs/immigration formalities are handled efficiently for intra-Schengen flights when arranged in advance; non-Schengen flights require mandatory handling. For official information or PPR requests, contact reucecoa@aena.es.
Reus provides reliable GA access near Barcelona with moderate fees and good facilities but requires advance coordination for slots, PPR, and handling—see AIP/NOTAM for current procedures.
