We were in Asturias for the 2026 solar eclipse for three nights. The airport was therefore very busy. Handling is now mandatory for GA flights as well. The various handlers are listed in the AIP. South Europe Ground Services offers a basic service at the most favorable rates (€14,66). Transport to and from the aircraft and provision of the fuel truck are included. On the day of departure, the Avgas truck was already at the aircraft upon our arrival. Avgas, however, is very expensive, hence a deduction.

PPR is required for all flights and must be requested at least 48 hours in advance by emailing operaciones_ovd@aena.es with standard flight and aircraft details; approval is typically prompt. No handling is required for aircraft up to 3.5 tons MTOW, and there are no handling fees for aircraft under 2 tons MTOW. Long opening hours, customs, and Avgas are available. Fuel can be paid in cash or with fuel cards, but not with credit cards; a valid Spanish tax number is mandatory for fuel purchases. The apron is large, with GAT support available, though walking distances can be long. Example: landing plus overnight parking about €40. Car hire is available nearby through Thrifty at a low rate. Clearance through the main terminal involves passing standard passenger security. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
