Pilot Comments for LCPH
Patrick
Recommend EDT Handling for good support. For smaller planes parking on "public GA ramp" is less expensive. Very busy with summer holiday airline traffic. Local pilots with airport pass report low hassles.
Thomas
Despite being a huge airport, LCPH doesn't have much traffic and is astonishingly GA friendly except the handling pricing.
You can shoot basically as many training approaches as you like without any problems. They apparently don't have or use radar, so you need to go by the approach plates and do reports if doing IFR.
Also for VFR local flights, you always need to file a flight plan and on restricted routes only. As it's an official international airport, there's also security for the GA, which can be bureaucratic.
There are some large handling firms like LGS and Swissport, but you might want to contact Kyriakos, he is the manager of the GA hangar: kyriakos.michael@edtoffshore.com or +35797875820. He also might be able to help with AVGAS. Jet-A1 is very cheap. You might also ask for self-handling.
Handling fees in pricelist are around €150, €100 weekend surcharge, landing fees is around €30.
AirfieldBot
Handling is mandatory for most GA arrivals, with LGS as the primary handler. Handling fees are high, with examples ranging from about €150 to €400, and additional charges apply for landing (about €70) and parking (about €50 per day for 2t). Total costs for a week can approach €600. Procedures are bureaucratic and time-consuming, involving multiple agencies and repeated security checks; handlers can expedite the process but at significant cost. Self-handling may be possible for EU-registered aircraft if actively requested and accepted by ATC, but is not guaranteed and may still result in handling charges if airport staff intervene.
Avgas is available only through the flying club or Air BP, with limited availability at night and high prices. Jet A1 is available at competitive rates. Light aircraft parking is on a large apron, sometimes requiring lengthy walks or transport across the airfield. Contact Augustinos at Griffon Aviation (mobile 99645585) for Avgas inquiries, though handling services are no longer offered by Griffon.
VFR flying in Cyprus is heavily restricted to specific routes; IFR arrivals are routine. Bureaucracy can be extensive and arbitrary, making local assistance valuable for first-time visitors.
