Information from pirep.io:
Description: Ashe County Airport is situated between Jefferson and the New River and offers excellent opportunities to explore the outdoors within a short drive. New River Outfitters and Zaloo's Canoes provide rentals to float down the river. The New River provides fishing opportunities for small-mouth bass and stocked Rainbow, Brook, and Brown Trout. The New River State Park provides both primitive riverside camping and electric hookup non-riverside camping. Other campgrounds that are slightly longer distance from the airport are Twin Rivers and River Country, both of which also offer riverside camping and electric/water. Drop in for a picnic, scenic view, or a short hike at Mount Jefferson State Natural area.
