Knoxville Downtown Island Airport (KDKX)

Description: The airport is located a few minutes from downtown Knoxville. Bikes are available at the FBO with bike trails to ride on adjacent to the airport along the river. During University of Tennessee home football games, the airport is located within the 3nm TFR that surrounds major sporting events. Plan arrivals and departures to be on the ground within one hour of the game, since the field is untowered. For noise abatement: * Runway 08 is the preferred calm wind runway * Aircraft departing Runway 26 should avoid turns over the neighborhood located approximately 1 NM southwest of the airport The airport also has a website with additional details.

Transient Parking: Parking is in front of the FBO building.

Crew Car: There is a crew car available for two hours on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Comments from pilots: - Excellent small airport. We flew in with a Cherokee 140, no landing fee, and were able to sign out two bicycles from the FBO. The airport is adjacent to a long greenway which is excellent for riding bikes eastbound into the nature areas along the river or westbound into the city. (2025-04-21, 0 helpful)
