What other pilots say about GMFF

On arrival from Spain, a crowd of tinsel-draped people was already waiting for us for immigration, customs, and the aircraft document check. Everyone involved was very friendly and helpful. Fees for 2 nights plus landing were just under €25—payable by credit card. The Avgas truck arrived promptly after landing and was payable only in euros—about €2.50 per liter. For departure, simply fill out the usual exit card and walk confidently to Security—then it takes about 20 minutes until everyone agrees that, in the end, you may walk directly onto the apron. On the way to the aircraft, a quick stop at C for a flight plan check and to pay fees. Overall, you should allow about 1 hour from the aircraft to the terminal or vice versa.

GMFF (Fès–Saïss) is a large airport with straightforward operations for general aviation. IFR arrivals and departures are handled professionally, with procedural ILS approaches available and no PPR required, even for international flights. VFR departures require a flight plan listing specific turning points and following approved routes; ATC expects ETAs for these points and manages altitude changes as in Class D airspace. Full document inspection is standard on arrival, including licence, C of A, insurance, and GENDEC forms; these are also needed on departure. Parking is typically near the flying club or in the southeastern apron area, sometimes requiring a long walk across the apron.

Landing and parking fees are generally low. Example: landing and parking about €20; another example: handling and landing about €320 when handling was mandatory. Fees can be paid by credit card at the C office below the tower. Fuel is available (Avgas and Jet A1), usually delivered by bowser or hand pump; payment is typically in cash (EUR or MAD), so small notes are useful. Example: Avgas about €3.20 per litre.

Taxis to Fès cost around €20–30, with the ride taking about 20 minutes. Security checks and paperwork can be thorough, so allow extra time for processing on both arrival and departure. Wearing a pilot uniform and carrying printed GENDEC forms can simplify procedures.

No PPR is required for GA arrivals or departures. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
