Laage Airport (ETNL)

Rostock-Laage (ETNL) combines military and general aviation operations, with friendly, professional ATC and ground staff. RNP and ILS approaches are available, with easy IFR and VFR handling; military-guided approaches are possible. Opening hours for GA are published in the AIP but may differ locally, typically open until 1700 on weekdays; outside these times, PPR is required. Facilities include a small crew lounge for rest and flight planning. A restaurant operates on site but may be closed when airline traffic is low or on Sundays. Self-service Jet A1 fuel is available; avgas availability is not specified.

Ground transport options are limited due to the airport’s remote location. Europcar and Sixt rental car keys can be collected at GAT security; App2Drive offers small cars on site. Taxis to Rostock cost around €40–50, while a bus replacement taxi service operates several times daily for about €5 per person to Rostock city center. The drive to Rostock takes about 25 minutes via autobahn; Warnemünde is about 35 minutes away.

Customs clearance requires advance phone coordination despite AIP indications of 24-hour availability. The airport is well-suited for technical stops, instrument approach training, or as an alternate, with efficient civil-military coordination and consistently positive service feedback.
