Gargnäs (ESUG) is a grass airfield situated on an island in Lapland, offering scenic approaches and a well-maintained runway. PPR is required; contact Östen Dahlström (+46 70 6072732) for prior arrangement and local information. The runway is reported as 800–940 meters long, flat, and well-kept, with hangar space sometimes available. Approaching runway 17 involves overflying a peninsula with tall trees; turbulence may occur near the threshold when winds are from the east.
No aviation fuel is currently available at the airfield, though mogas can be obtained at a nearby fuel station within walking distance. Careful fuel planning is necessary due to limited availability at other regional airports. A small supermarket and basic supplies are accessible on foot in the village.
Accommodation options include a nearby camping site (Trollforsen Camping, http://www.trollforsen.de/german/, +46 952 21020), where cabins can be rented, and the B&B NaturResort Anglegard (www.aenglagard.com), both within walking distance. Camping on the field or use of an on-site hut is possible. Canoes, motorboats, and bicycles are available for rent locally. The area offers opportunities for fishing, hiking, water sports, wildlife observation, and midnight flying during summer.
The airfield is described as exceptionally welcoming to visiting pilots. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
