Pilot Comments for ESSL
Michael
The aerodrome is PPR; easy via the club form (https://ppr.lfk.se/). We received approval within a few minutes, with information on local procedures also outside Tower hours. A further email inquiry about fuel went unanswered, but on site we met club members who were very helpful. Fuel 100LL currently 32 SEK/liter. On the hard-surface parking apron, tie-downs are available. Taxi to the quite worth-seeing city center approx 250 SEK.

ESSL requires PPR, which is easily arranged via the online form or by contacting the Linköping Flying Club; responses are typically prompt and include local procedures, including for operations outside tower hours. Parking is available at the flying club with tie-downs and weights provided. Facilities at the aeroclub include microwaves, a dormitory, and a fridge. Refueling (Avgas) should be coordinated with the flying club; fuel payment may require cash or EC card at an automated station.
Landing fees are generally reasonable. Example: landing fee about €30. No overnight parking fee is mentioned. Taxi to the city center costs around 250 SEK, with bus options also available (bus day ticket 75 SEK). The airfield is adjacent to military operations; pilots should be familiar with mandatory reporting points and be aware of the military control zone to the west.
Access between the terminal and aircraft may require escort by club personnel due to Saab security rules. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
