Kristianstad (ESMK) offers a long runway with ILS to the south and NDB approaches to both ends. VFR and IFR operations are possible, with weekly variable opening hours published by NOTAM; outside these times, access may be possible via prior arrangement with the local flying club. The airfield is generally quiet, controllers and ground staff are described as friendly and helpful, and English, Swedish, and German are spoken.
Jet A1 and UL91 are available on the field; Jet A1 requires a BP card. 100LL is not available from the airport directly but can be purchased from the aeroclub for cash (SEK or EUR). Payment for UL91 can be made by card or BP Carnet. Fuel prices are considered low compared to other airports in the region. There is a small briefing room on site.
Landing fees vary: when handled through the flying club and after signing their guest book, landing fees are typically waived or replaced by a voluntary donation. Otherwise, landing fees apply; Example: landing fee about €25. Parking is generally straightforward, though re-entry to the apron can be cumbersome; wearing a hi-vis vest is helpful due to scheduled airline passenger movements in the terminal.
The flying club (www.krfk.se) is welcoming to visitors and may provide coffee, snacks, local advice, or even transport to town or bus stops if contacted in advance. The airport lacks a restaurant; snacks may be available at the club or terminal. Taxis to Kristianstad cost around 319 SEK (about €35), with bus journeys taking about 20 minutes.
The airfield is well maintained and suitable for fuel stops or overnight stays. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM for current details.
