Leknes airport offers access to the Lofoten Islands and is described as friendly and conventional. Weather can change rapidly, with visibility dropping from VMC to IMC within minutes, so careful planning and alternates are important. Both VFR and IFR approaches are possible, with the approach angle about 30° to the runway, requiring attention at minima. Fees are paid via Avinor online; Example: landing about 279 NOK (excl. VAT for international flights). No Avgas (100LL) is available, but a private UL91 pump exists; contact Roar Strande (+47 906 67 857) for use. Car hire is available but should be booked well in advance. The town is about a 20-minute walk from the airport, while hotels may require a taxi ride. Public buses connect to local villages such as Å for scenic trips.
Facilities for overnight parking such as tie-downs may not always be present; the local flying club has a small hangar that may accommodate a guest aircraft in summer. There may not be a dedicated contact person on site; assistance can be sought from AFIS or Avinor staff. High-visibility vests are required on the apron, and the terminal apron must not be entered during commercial operations. Procedures and opening hours can vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
