Kristiansand/Kjevik (ENCN) is a welcoming and straightforward airport for general aviation, located in southern Norway. VFR and IFR operations are both supported, with friendly and professional ATC. Aircraft up to 2,730 kg MTOW are exempt from parking fees; however, a takeoff/landing fee applies and is typically paid online via Avinor’s website or invoiced later. Example: landing fee about €40.
AVGAS 100LL is available via self-service, usually payable by credit card at the pump, though some reports note that only certain fuel cards are accepted at times—advance confirmation is advisable. Jet A1 is available but may incur additional hookup and small uplift fees for low-volume purchases. Parking areas provide concrete-filled tyres and tie-down ropes.
Customs procedures are generally relaxed; formal checks are infrequent, but entry/exit for international flights is supported. No handling agent is required for GA. Access between the apron and terminal is possible via a small side building or with staff assistance; GA movements are kept separate from commercial traffic.
Transport to Kristiansand city center (about 15–26 km away) is possible by taxi (fixed fare around 455 NOK) or bus (bus stop outside terminal; journey time varies). Facilities include a small landside kiosk for snacks and a restaurant after security. The airport’s location offers scenic approaches, especially from the south over the coastline.
Turbulence can occur on approach, particularly with strong westerly or northwesterly winds. Procedures may vary; see AIP/NOTAM. Overall, ENCN offers efficient entry into Norway with minimal hassle for non-commercial GA pilots.
