Uncomplicated regional airport with friendly staff and efficient refueling for Jet A1; Avgas 100LL may be available via the local flying club. No mandatory handling for typical GA operations. GA parking is at the west end of the apron, slightly sloped—chocks recommended. Walking distance from GA parking to the exit is about 200 meters, with no safety vest required. Fees are paid online via Avinor; Example: landing and parking about €40. Parking is free in some cases, and a weekly ticket option exists. All major car rental companies are on site, with easy pickup and return. Taxis to Ålesund cost about €40 on weekdays and €50 on weekends, taking around 15 minutes; bus service is limited. No Avgas or aeroclub facilities directly at the field except as noted above. Hotels in Ålesund can be scarce in summer. Procedures for VFR/IFR transitions are straightforward, but fog or low clouds from the sea can develop even in good weather—monitor conditions closely, especially for VFR arrivals. The ILS approach to runway 24 passes near terrain and requires careful monitoring in IMC.
