Airport Stauning (EKVJ) IFR

Stauning (EKVJ) is situated in a scenic location near the Ringkøbing Fjord, offering straightforward VFR and IFR arrivals and departures. Operations are possible without a flight information service on weekends or outside published hours; coordination is managed on the local frequency, and flight plans should be closed with Billund Approach. IFR and N-VFR procedures are available during operational hours, with VFR permitted at other times via AFIS. The airfield is accessible at all times, but a prior notification one hour before closing is required.

Facilities include both 100LL and Jet A1 fuel, available even when AFIS is not present. There is no dedicated restaurant on site, but coffee is available in the pilot lounge for a small donation, and the adjacent aviation museum (about 250–300 meters away) offers snacks, cakes, and ice cream. Accommodation options include simple on-field beds (with a small electricity contribution) as well as hotels, B&Bs, and cabins nearby. Free bicycles are sometimes available for local transport, though their condition and availability may vary; car hire can be arranged directly to the airfield through local providers such as byensbil.dk. The town of Stauning is about 4 km away by bicycle, while Ringkøbing is approximately 16 km distant and reachable in about an hour by bike or via car rental.

The Danish Aviation Museum next to the airfield features historic aircraft displays and occasional flying events. The surrounding area offers excellent cycling routes along the fjord, access to North Sea beaches, and opportunities for kiting and surfing.

Fees are low. Example: landing fee about €30 for landing plus four days’ parking.
