Vágar Airport (EKVG)

• Spectacular approaches, both IFR and VFR (Waterfall arrival / departure). Gorgeous nature.
• Moderate to high fees (C510, MTOM 3,922 kg, 3 nights: total 500 EUR). Excellent service.
• PPR required via handling@fae.fo.
• Slot required, GCR turnaround (!) format. Best done via tool on www.airportccordination.com.
• Tax forms + GENDEC required, both for arrival and departure. See homepage. Forms T27, T30 + T38. T27 Crew List must include all PAX.
• Self briefing (familiarisation program) required (see AIP and homepage).
• JET-A1 was 1,70 EUR/l including all taxes. Fuel release vie World Fuel Services called for 2,95 EUR/l, which is a rare occasion where we opted against a fuel release.
• Always have enough fuel for deviation. Rapid changes in ceiling, visibility and winds can require deviation.

Bucket list item for many pilots. Weather can be poor with low ceilings, year round. Wind is the biggest problem though, depending on direction. There is a rather complex wind shear reporting and assessment system. Pilots have to confirm in writing that they have read a document describing this before flying to EKVG. AIP has the details.

Fees OK. We paid around 110€ for handling, landing and one night parking in August 2025.

Hotel in easy walking distance but it was booked out when we visited. Found accommodation in the village down by the sea, half an hour on foot.
