On 4–5 Jul 2026 with C182, 4 POB. Uncomplicated IFR arrival and departure, excellent handling by ASL. Beautiful lounge with drinks and snacks. Fees 142,- — be sure to obtain a quote in advance.

IFR and VFR arrivals are straightforward, with mandatory flight plans for both domestic and international flights. Airspace in the Maastricht TMA is class D, requiring two-way radio contact and ATC clearance before entry. Handling is mandatory for non-based aircraft, managed by ASL Group, and often includes a weekend surcharge; obtaining a cost estimate in advance is advised as fees are considered high. Procedures and handling requirements can be unclear at times, so consulting the AIP/NOTAM is recommended.
Landing and handling fees are generally high compared to other airports in the region. Example: landing and handling about €120. Weekend surcharges may apply, such as about €30. Facilities include a modern terminal with a good restaurant (Hangaar), free coffee and tea in the pilot lounge, briefing rooms with internet access, and toilets. GA parking is typically on the AZ-Apron or C5 area; marshallers or fire service staff guide aircraft to parking. Tie-downs are not always available on the apron.
Ground transport options include a bus stop directly outside the terminal (about 30 minutes to Maastricht city center), taxis, and car rental services located in the public terminal. Walking distances from parking to the terminal range from 2 to 10 minutes depending on location.
ATC is professional but can be fast-paced during busy periods. Noise abatement procedures require VFR routes via designated reporting points (such as U or H along the motorway). IFR infrastructure is robust, with ILS available. Customs/immigration is available daily between 6:00–23:00; police may be called for clearance upon arrival.
Maastricht Aachen Airport offers strong infrastructure and friendly staff but is less attractive for short GA visits due to high costs and mandatory handling. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
