Schiphol welcomes general aviation with a dedicated GA apron (K Apron) and runway 22/04, typically handled by Jet Aviation, Aviapartner, or AviaVIP. Handling is compulsory, with no self-handling permitted. Procedures and radio phraseology differ from standard; study the AIP carefully, as initial calls are shortened and multiple frequency changes are common. For VFR arrivals, entry is often via Victor at 1000 ft to runway 22/04, with startup clearance via Delivery and taxiing coordinated by GA Amsterdam rather than Schiphol Ground. IFR arrivals may involve vectoring to ILS 36R followed by a circle-to-land for 04. Expect long taxi times if assigned other runways (e.g., 36L). No slots are required outside peak hours.
Fees for non-commercial GA are high compared to regional alternatives. Multiple reports from 2021 onward show total charges for landing, handling, and short-term parking ranging from about €310 to €700 depending on handling agent and duration. Example: total charges about €410 for landing, takeoff, one night parking, handling, admin fees, crew transfer, and VAT. Handling fees alone typically start at about €130–€140 plus VAT; airport fees (landing/takeoff) are each around €60–€70 plus VAT; parking is relatively inexpensive per day but can add up. Example: total charges about €560 for a short stop including landing, departure, and a few hours of parking.
Facilities include a dedicated lounge for passengers and crew at the GA terminal. Only Jet A1 fuel is available on the apron; no Avgas is offered. Crew transfer between terminal and aircraft is provided by handling agents. Customs and passport control are available in the GA terminal.
Ground transport to central Amsterdam takes about 20 minutes by taxi from Schiphol Oost (East), costing around €35; it is important to specify Schiphol Oost to avoid being dropped at the main terminal.
ATC is professional but busy; expect rapid instructions and be prepared for several frequency changes before departure. Noise abatement procedures may require specific routing after takeoff. Do not turn under own power on K stands—follow-me cars or ground staff will assist with positioning.
Schiphol offers efficient service for GA but at a premium price; Lelystad may be more economical for those prioritizing cost over proximity to Amsterdam city center. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
