Exeter EGTE supports both VFR and IFR operations, with radar vectors typically available for ILS approaches. No SIDs or STARs are published. For VFR, circuit traffic is limited to three at a time, with possible holding or orbits required; commercial traffic receives priority. Single-engine aircraft face special rules: the usable runway for singles excludes the western portion, making the ILS glideslope and PAPIs for Runway 08 unavailable, and night landings on 08 are not permitted for singles. Out-of-hours movements incur a surcharge of over £100. Procedures may change; see AIP/NOTAM.
Landing fees are generally described as medium to higher. Example: landing and 24 hours parking about £60. Payment is made at Aviation South West (next to the terminal), which also provides airside access slips; opening hours are 0830–1700 local. Handling is not mandatory for aircraft ≤1.8 t unless refuelling Jet A1, and can often be bypassed by booking directly with ATC at +441392354916. Yellow jackets are mandatory airside, and walkways must be followed.
Avgas 100LL is available but no longer accepts Air BP cards; credit cards are accepted. Jet A is available with Air BP. Fuel is sold directly by the airport; visiting aircraft press a 'fuel' button for service.
Car hire is available at the airport, and taxis to Exeter cost about £15 each way. The city centre offers historic attractions and cafes within easy reach of the airport.
Aviation South West provides a briefing room with internet access, drinks, and snacks for GA pilots. There is no restaurant in the terminal, only a coffee/tea corner.
Customs require advance notification (GAR submission); four hours’ notice may be needed from Ireland arrivals. For official information or booking, contact ATC at +441392354916. EGTE offers friendly service and efficient procedures but enforces safety rules strictly airside.
