Walney Airport (EGNL)

EGNL (Barrow) is a private airport owned by BAE Systems, primarily serving company traffic. Prior permission is required via phone for all arrivals and departures, and movements are not permitted outside opening hours, which end around midday Friday and resume Monday morning. The instrument approach procedure exists but is restricted to company traffic; visitors cannot use it. Car hire is straightforward, with arrangements possible for key collection and return in the operations room. The airport provides convenient access to the Lake District, especially the western areas.
