Probably the closest airfield to Central London. Its a Nice little Airfield. Runway can be soft when its rained for a few days. Check Notams. Cafe now open everyday normally 09:00 to 16:00. PPR but you can just fly in non PPR. Airfield usable from dawn to dusk.

PPR is required and can be requested via the airfield website, with confirmations typically arriving promptly. The airfield operates without ATC on a Unicom basis, and the preferred arrival procedure is UK-style overhead joining. The grass runway is about 650 meters long, generally well maintained, with a slight downslope on runway 21 and power lines across the approach; these do not present significant obstacles for landing or go-arounds. IFR arrivals are possible in uncontrolled airspace, but there are no instrument procedures.
Avgas is available via self-service pump with credit card payment; note that pausing longer than 60 seconds during fueling may interrupt the transaction. The on-site café offers basic food and drinks, sometimes operating only on weekends in winter, with an honesty box system when unattended. The Tiger Club is based at the field, contributing to a sociable atmosphere.
Landing fees are modest. Example: landing about £10 and parking per night about £10. No landing fee is sometimes mentioned. For customs/immigration when arriving from abroad, submission of a GAR form to UK authorities is required.
Upminster railway station is 2.5–4 km away, reachable by taxi (about £7–£12) or a short lift from locals; from there, direct trains reach central London in about 20 minutes. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
