Savonlinna Airport offers tie-downs for aircraft and has a control zone with VOR, NDB, and ILS. The airport operates limited hours, typically open when scheduled flights to or from Helsinki are handled; landings are permitted outside tower hours. Access to the airfield is via a turnstile, which can be remotely opened by the tower or by staff at Kuopio Airport if Savonlinna is closed. Example: two starts and two weeks parking about €40. Taxi to the city costs about €30, with taxi phone numbers available at the main building. The city offers attractions such as Olavinlinna Castle, museum ships, and boat tours.
